As the cold war was coming to an end, the survivability issue of the Peacekeeper missile was solved by a “rail garrison” system whereby trains, each with two missiles, would use the national railroad system undetected. The project included the placement of rail and three main structures, Integration Reinforcing Facility, Launch Pad and Test Igloo.
